Profile : Chaitali Mukherjee

Chaitali Mukherjee is the founder of Ra Entertainment Private Ltd India. She is a vastly experienced film and television professional. She has 20 years experience in the Indian film and television industry. She started her career as a game show producer with Fremantle Media, and has made many successful Indian TV shows.

 

In 2006, Chaitali started her company Ra Entertainment and started producing and directing documentaries and non- fiction films. She has in depth knowledge of Indian culture, history and politics. She is a modern historian and her documentary work speaks for her significant contribution towards documenting the marriage systems of rare tribes, social structures of communities their cultural practices. She has documented numerous activists and their organizations that are working tirelessly against child labor, girl trafficking, child marriage, uplifting the underprivileged.

 

Chaitali has documented the work of Kailash Satyarthi (Nobel Laureate)and showcased his amazing  work and his movement Bachpan Bachao Aandolan, in her Documentary produced and directed for MediaCorp. She also made films on Ela Bhatt a crusader who has given dignity to unorganized labour through her organization Sewa. Her film on Mahabir Pun showcases his triumph to connect Nepal with rest of the world. Similarly she has chronicled the work of Dr.Prakash Amte and Dr. Mandakini Amte and their hospital in the middle of Dandkaranya Forest that gives free medical services to tribals of more than 5000 villages. Her environmental documentary on water heroes showcases the work of Dr. Rajendra Singh and Chewang Norphel. Her film Battle For Our River : Narmada has documented the trials and tribulations of Medha Patkar and Narmada Bachao Andolan.

 

She likes to chronicle the rural and urban life styles in India, which is diverse and varied and has interest in documenting farming communities from all over India.

 

She has directed many documentaries for other production houses including her own. She has won awards and her films get appreciation regularly in the international press. She has been a panel member for international documentary forums.

 

Her career spans two decades and she started as a format show producer and graduated to executive producer at  Fremantle Media an Indian arm of All American Fremantle, later Pearson Inc.

Chaitali  worked as an Associate Vice President Content & Marketing (2004-2005) Applause Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Aditya Birla Group

She joined Applause Entertainment owned by one of the largest corporate in India called Aditya Birla Group, She was appointed Associate Vice President TV Content & Marketing. She worked to set up Bollywood productions and TV shows and events for the company.  

 

Personal

She has a M.Phil degree in Modern History from prestigious Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi. She has interest in Indian English literature and is a voracious reader. She lives in Delhi (NCR) India.
